Nominations are open for the inaugural Young African Australian Star Awards.
Young people between 15 and 30 years of African heritage living in Queensland are eligible to nominate for the awards across its seven categories.
Young African Australians achieving in education, their professional work, citizenship and community service, the arts, leadership and sport will have an opportunity to shine through this awards program.
The encouragement category will showcase young people who show potential to excel in the future.
From the winners across the seven categories, one will be chosen as the Young African Australian Star.
The Young African Australian Star Awards seek to recognise and celebrate Young African Australians in Queensland who are high performers and demonstrate outstanding achievement. The awards aim to inspire, encourage and support young African Australians as they shape their future and that of African communities in Queensland.
This initiative delivers on one of QACC’s goals to ‘develop our youth to aspire for leadership in their schools, communities, with QACC and in the wider Queensland community’
Nominations close on Friday, 15 March 2013
The awards ceremony will be on Saturday, 13 April 2013 at African House. Time is to be confirmed.
Award finalists will be notified one week beforehand. All finalists must be available to attend the awards ceremony. All nominees will be invited to attend.
